Being a woman comes with a litany of stigmas, one of the largest being the topic of women’s health. I believe that everyone should have access to health care regardless of income and that screening measures that can catch diseases early should be accessible to anyone. As someone who’s dealt with a litany of medical problems, and who lost my grandmother to cervical cancer – this is a matter near and dear to my heart. Before Pap tests, cervical cancer was the #1 cancer-related killer of women, and now it’s down to #15. I’m grateful to take a little bit of time to discuss the importance of Pap tests and help to break the stigma that causes a lot of women to fall behind on their screenings because they don’t believe they have the resources or medical coverage to access the test.
