As a self-taught artist, it’s in Sabrina’s nature to direct the course of her own life, and that includes decisions about her health, and especially her right to a Pap test.

“[I]t is essential that we as women have a voice in policies that directly affect each and every single one of us. Far too often, women are being told what to do, how to act, and our own decisions are being neglected, and other people’s opinions are forced upon us. We cannot continue to let this happen. I believe in the statement “my body, my choice.” Our own health should be prioritized and these tests can be LIFE SAVING. Losing access to essential testing for our bodies is not only a loss for women, but society and communities as a whole. We should have the right to our own bodies and what is right for us.”

Hi all, this caption will be a little different than usual because I want to talk about Pap and HPV testing. Pap tests and HPV tests detect the presence of a virus that could eventually lead to cervical cancer, so these tests detect precancerous conditions. Cervical cancer can be treated early if changes in the cervix are detected through pap tests, but if not discovered early on, the cancer can spread throughout the body and become deadly. Now, changes to women’s healthcare guidelines have been proposed, and I believe that it is essential that we as women have a voice in policies that directly affect each and every single one of us. We should have the right to our own bodies and what is right for us. Especially if these tests are necessary to prevent certain types of cancers. Hearing about healthcare options being taken away from us, I feel like we are moving backwards in this timeline. Women have been fighting this battle for far too long and a majority of these laws are created by men. We as women depend on this type of healthcare to live our life and stay healthy. Please join me in fighting this battle, not just for me, but for all women. Check out @protectthePap and protectthePap.com to learn more! Paid for by Protect the Pap #ProtectThePap
